Sleep Training Strategy for Baby

Today, I want to talk to you about something that I’m really passionate about, and that’s getting more sleep!

As you might know from some of my other posts, my youngest daughter is nothing like my first daughter when it comes to sleeping. Nothing like her at all and it’s been a bit of touch-and-go around home as far as getting sleep. So, on Cyber Monday, I took a leap and purchased a sleep consultation plan.

This is a screen shot of the Baby Sleep Site

I’ve been following this particular website since our first daughter was born, so I knew it existed, but I didn’t need this information with our first daughter. It is called the Baby Sleep Site, and when they put their stuff on sale… I was like, “Mine!”

I purchased a plan, and it came with a personalized sleep strategy, plus three emails where I get to have follow up conversations with my consultant.  I’m really excited about this.

I haven’t implemented it yet; we’re waiting for a good time. Steve needs to be home and the holidays are probably not the best time although maybe they are, I don’t know. Anyway, we will start soon.

I printed a paper copy of the plan. It’s long, about 60 pages, believe it or not, although, this isn’t just any 60 pages. After I purchased the plan, they sent me an email and directions on what to do.

To purchase a sleep plan you log in, create a profile and then fill out this extensive questionnaire that asks all kinds of questions, six ways from Sunday about your baby. How she sleeps, her temperament, how she responds and reacts to certain things, and so forth. Literally, that alone took me probably 45 minutes. Fortunately, this is a site for moms. You can save and come back if necessary to finish the questionnaire.

Five business days later, I got an email back from a woman, introducing herself. She said, “I’ll be your consultant and here is your personalized plan. If you have any questions, this is what to do” along with other instructions.

As you might imagine, I devoured that plan! I read those 60 pages in one day. Every baby nap I was reading. I was on it. I have to tell you, I’m pretty excited. I wanted to do this quick blog post to tell you guys about it, and then after we implement the plan, come back and update you.

In this plan there are all kinds of information, such as developmental milestones, how babies communicate, sleeping arrangements, where to start.  Then, there’s information about night wakings and how to deal with that, plus information about naps. Also, questions and answers about breastfeeding, how to handle setbacks and more.

There’s so much good information in here! I am actually very pleasantly surprised, and really impressed.

I’m pretty excited but like I said, we haven’t started yet. We’ll probably start here in the next few weeks. Stay tuned, and I’ll get back to you to let you know how it works out.

We did a blog post on co-sleeping and bed-sharing, for those of you that haven’t seen them. The next step is going to be to move her into her own sleeping space, so I can stop sleeping like a pretzel! Yay!
